Unbelievable disclaimer on a new Maxim-related website (covered by PDN) that says, essentially, “we don’t need no stinkin’ permission to use copyrighted materials…because we say so. So there.”
Well, if that’s the way life works now, I’m the new Empress of the West and all of you have to send me buckets of cash in tribute…because I said so.
Sheesh.
If you make images they may be interested in, keep an eye on their site and sue ’em when they steal your work. Please. And let us know when you do.
Amazing that such a large publishing company would put their necks out like that. They probably figure nobody will go through the hassle of claiming their images or maybe they might be flattered that it was published in the first place.
This kind of stuff makes me sick to my stomach.
I’m sure Felix Dennis feels that he can tie up any legal actiion in the courts for so long that photographers will not risk the legal fees.
There’s so much of the T&A photography out there, plus so many photographers who shoot it for nothing and give it away, it will be rare that he’ll ever run into an issue. Add the fact that, as stated earlier, there are probably a ton of guys who’d just love to get a photo published in one of Dennis’ magazines.
I haven’t picked up one of those magazines in a long time, not a chance in hell I’ll do it in the future.
