Like CC hasn’t been bad enough, now the “brain trust” (ahem) there has come up with a new “license” (it isn’t a license at all) that is, as the Copyright Alliance says, essentially intellectual property rights suicide for the creator.
I am so sick of CC. They do so much harm to all intellectual property creators of every kind. Grrrr….
You should be glad you weren’t at the JMLS IP conference last month… the fellow who is representing Shepard Fairey (and who represented James Van Der Ark) was there with a gag-worthy web2.0-lookin’ presentation about why short of stopping me fromI just stealing Harry Potter DVD’s from the store and reselling them, IP protection is Bad For Humankind. I half expected him to start referring to Saint Lawrence.
While I didn’t like his presentation, I must admit that that man could talk birds out of the trees. It took a Rowling to beat him: the AP doesn’t have a chance. They should lose anyway, IMO, there’s just not enough there there. But even if they had any sort of case, I wouldn’t want to face that fellow in court.
Pardon me for being old fashioned, but come Shepard.
Barack Obama isn’t *that* difficult to draw or paint. So, why did you have to modify someone else’s photo in order to create your poster?
