Dean

cloudsThis morning, as I write this, there is thunder rumbling outside. The picture above is of the sky, facing east, from our back yard, and what you see there are the remnants of Hurricane Dean. So, what? So, it doesn’t generally rain, much less have thunderstorms, out here in the summer. In the desert east of the mountains or maybe even in the mountains, sure, but there is rain west of the mountains this morning, and that’s just weird. This kind of radar image is winter-like (we live about where the “o” in “San Diego” is): radarChristopher tells stories about never remembering storms in the summer growing up out here and even getting excited, as a kid, when he could see very distant storms in the mountains. As it is, it hasn’t rained here, yet. But they are having flash floods in the mountains and it looks pretty ominous.I hope it rains. I miss it.

You want some of the rain we’ve had here? I seem to have an excess…

(41 inches for the year so far…)

We were also completely doused by Emily.

    Yes, please!

Btw, we got about 10 drops from Dean here. Just enough to make us stop and say “what’s that noise?” but not enough to even wet anything.
