I’m a Democrat and I’m Okay

Thursday, May 18th, 2006

A friend wrote that he hardly knew what to say anymore when presented with raving lunacy in the congress, and by extension the WH, etc. He used to be a Republican, but, as he’s a smart guy, he’s certainly not comfortable with that title anymore. So, when he asked what to say, I wrote this…
(you know the tune…)

I’m a Democrat and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I fear all day.

I fear all day
I make some calls
There’s a van parked down my block
The government’s a-list’ning
I’m headed for the dock

O I’m a Democrat and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I fear all day.

I go to work
My head’s kept down
My boss loves Mr. Bush
But all my friends
Wish just like me
We were headed for a putsch

O I’m a Democrat and I’m okay
I sleep all night and I fear all day.

I go to vote,
I stay informed,
and I know how to read;
It’s just too bad
we’ll all get stuck
With that damn Hillary.

Life in CA–email version

Monday, May 8th, 2006

This is a typical, if occasional, email now that we live in California:

From:   cdellacqua@XXXX.com
Subject: Did you feel it?

We just had a little earthquake, did you feel it?

Christopher Dell’Acqua

Luckily for me, I missed this one. It was a little 3.6, off the coast a bit. Seems the downtown area got the most of it and with Christopher being 8 stories up, he felt it. The house is further north and inland, so I’m not surprised that I missed it. Happy? Yes.
The weird part is that just two nights ago I had a dream I was in a pretty significant quake. Hopefully that wasn’t me being psychic again.

But we do have more than a few of these kinds of emails now, even when they aren’t actually seismic events. For example, a few weeks ago I was sitting here at my desk, working, when there was an odd noise and then the window rattled hard. Even the cats got utterly freaked. I emailed Christopher “Did you feel that?” and he thought I was nuts. Turns out that no one will explain the events (it has happened since too)–every branch of the military denies causing the noise.

Odd.
