It’s Not All Bad

Living in SoCal is very expensive; the housing is obscene, gas prices crazy-high, etc. But sometimes it has its advantages. One of the biggest is the price of produce. This below is a recreation of the receipt from my purchase at Henry’s market, which is owned by Wild Oats, yesterday:

3 bunches green onion    $1.00
2 celery                         $.67
4 Red Delicious apples    $1.36
1 head iceberg lettuce      $.50
2 lemons                         $.34
1 sweet onion                  $.53
1 lg red onion                 $.48

Total                    $4.88

While it didn’t make up for the large rent check I had just dropped off at the management company, it did help. And I could probably have done even better on the prices if I had gone to North Park Produce (where I could have found lamb tongues as well, if I had wanted them), but Henry’s is closer and cleaner.
