Jeopardy! Hopefully, part 2
Talk about a short wait! (read Part 1, the previous post, first, if you haven’t yet). This afternoon the phone rang and on my caller ID it read “Tri-Star Pictur” (the screen being a bit short for the full info). My brain began processing: Tri-Star equals Sony equals oh my god!
Glenn (damn, I forgot to ask if he’s 2 Ns or not) was on the line telling me that they’d like me to be a contestant and for me to be at the studio on November 3rd for the taping.
By this point, my brain was on overload so my heart took over: tha-WHUMP, tha-WHUMP! I have no idea how I managed to sound so cool, but I did. I “mentioned” that that wasn’t enough time to study and Glenn laughingly responded “What do you need to know, how fast a swallow is?!”
I didn’t ask if he meant laden or unladen. I didn’t think of that until later.
He did also make some joke about the ink still being wet on my forms and we had a couple of pleasant exchanges. Then he gave me the important info (times, what to bring, etc.) and let me know that I would be getting it all again in a letter in a few days.
As I have to be at the studio at 8:30 am, I’ll be going up the night before (election night!) and staying at the recommended hotel nearby. I’ll probably be too nervous to think about the election results until after the whole thing is done. I’m not sure if that is good or bad.
Christopher is going to come with me again, even though he’s afraid he’ll be too nervous to watch. If I win lots of money, he is going to get something wonderful for all his help and support.
Hell, if I do terribly I’d still like to get him something. He deserves it.
We will be back, win or lose, that night in San Diego. If I win (pleaseohpleaseohplease), I’d have to return the following Monday for the next taping.
In the meantime, you’ll find me buried beneath a mass of index cards, studying.
Wish me luck!

I’m sure you’ll do well. Do post the air date when they let you know.
Congratulations!
